Branding for students, are you kidding me? Yes. I'm gonna tell you about branding for students. No, I'm not kidding you.

I'm Jeff Altman, The Big Gamr Hunter, and I coach people and organizations to be more effective. I interviewed someone recently named Quentin Langley, who has a book called "Brandjack." And it's got a long thing after that. I'll have a link to it in the show notes. I don't know how much time he spends on this, but in the interview it surfaced as an interesting thing I wanted to share with you, since I don't think a lot of you are going to find the interview to be interested in it overall. But he teaches at FIT and at the Gabelli School of Management, and has an idea that he works with his students to do about how to brand.

Now it's best when you start as a freshman. But you can start it in any time; it's probably too late to think about it in your senior year but you could try. And the idea is, what you do is you blog every week, and take the most interesting thing you learned at school that week, write about it, and think "how would that apply in the sort of job that I want to do?"

Catch that one. Think about something you learned that week, and translate it into how that might apply to the job that you want to do.

Now, what that's going to do, if you start in your freshman year, is you're going to have at least 200 blog entries I'm talking about during the school year. Remember, you have the summer off, but during the school year, you'll have at least 200 entries, times four years. And thus, when you interview with firms, or you create a LinkedIn profile and reference your blog, and people can go back and see it, you're going to stand out from all the others, especially as they start talking with you about the blog, and the evolution of your thinking from your freshman year to graduation.

Again, the idea of branding is to stand out from the pack and distinguish yourself. And for a lot of students, it's impossible. But if you follow this advice, you definitely will.

I hope you found this helpful. I'm Jeff Altman. My website is TheBigGameHunter.us. Put it in your phone so, this way, when you think you need some help or advice, you can go to the blog, go exploring, there's a lot there to help you. If you have a question for me, you can ask me through the site. Or if you're interested in coaching, you can schedule time for a free discovery call or schedule time for coaching. I've got a lot of great information that's available publicly.

I also have a great course on Udemy on interviewing, called The Ultimate Job Interview Framework. It's also available as a book on Amazon-- as a paperback or as a Kindle book. And there's much more. There's a series on releasing called Job Search Essentials. Look for that on Amazon as well.

Hope you have a terrific day and most importantly, be great. Take care
