Jeff Altman, The Big Game Hunter. I'm a coach who helps people with job search, hiring
more effectively managing and leading overall effectiveness in the workplace I
spotted a great article on BlueSteps.com's blog there and it talks about
seven signs that it's time to change jobs so I thought this is a good one to
share and I'm going to summarize what they write here so the first sign is
Sunday night Monday morning you feel sick it's not that you're physically
sick but you're having anxiety or headaches or you know you're having
aches and pains and you're struggling to get out of bed on Monday morning instead
of feeling exhilarated about going in.. Now I'm not saying you should be a
workaholic. I just want to be clear. But you know it's just the indicators that
maybe the job isn' t to your liking. Number two, overall confidence is declining and
you have apathy and doubt about what you do and what the performance is like
Number three. You start daydreaming your work more often thinking about anything
else than what you're supposed to do if you're on Facebook more often Instagram
doing more searches, you know, looking at personal interests and you're
not doing what you're there to do. Number four. You're only there for the money and,
boy do I know about this one because there was a time when I was still
working in search that, I'm hung in there even though I hated my firm and I can't
and the ownership of the firm. I liked the people but I just didn't like being
there because of the owner and I knew that if I left I'd be starting from
square one. I had a substantial revenue stream
coming in so if you're only doing it for the money that can be a problem next one
Number five. You're bored. You know, work isn't supposed to be fun
but it could be exhilarating it sucks and if you find yourself bored
disinterested. You're not moving ahead.. You're not interested in moving ahead or
getting an adjunct on things it may be time to look I feel like Jeff Foxworthy
here if your career isn't a fit for your life right now it might be time to
change jobs. And that's the notion of there's no balance in my life or you have
a sick family member that you need to tend for it may be time to leave and the
last one I'll bring to your attention or that they bring to the attention is the
notion that there's been a leadership change in the organization
Maybe , the firm has been sold. Maybe, your department has a new head and you notice
you're not comfortable in the culture.. Things that started to go south for you and the
result winds up being you wonder why you're there at this point it's time to
leave. There's no reason to tolerate stuff. The next place can be better than
what you're experiencing and I know that was my experience when I worked in search
and I stayed with organizations for more than 10 years . . . but at the same time, there
comes a point where you have to make the hard decisions and make the move to move
on or make the decision to move on. I'm Jeff Alton hope you found this
helpful. My website is TheBigGameHunter.us. Whatever the site and go
