I'm Jeff Altman, The Big Game Hunter. I'm the head coach for JobSearchCoachingHQ, com, and NoBSCoachingAdvice.com.
I want to show you a video that, I think, will help you and involves LinkedIn and your privacy settings, and letting people know, letting recruiters know, both agency and corporate recruiters, that you are open to a new opportunity.
In the case of corporate recruiters, imagine you're applying for a job and you can also signal to them that you're open to working at their firm. Let me show you the two features and how to find them. It's really very simple.
Now, if you go to the "me" area in what's currently the black ribbon of your LinkedIn profile (I say this (currently), because you may watch this at a time where it's changed, but you're looking for me) and you click on that. You go to sleep settings and privacy. Notice it loads and in the left hand column are "job seeking preferences." You click on that . . . hey, that's not tough.
Now I'm about to click, it scrolls down and look at that!
Let recruiters know you're open to a new job.
You click "Change." Now, I'm not interested in looking. And you will click on that and it becomes eliminated. And lets them know that that's an activated feature and you're interested in being contacted by recruiters.
Now here's the next one that I think is really cool. Let's say you are interested in recruiters at companies you have created job alerts for. So, let's say, you're applying for a job and now you're creating a job alert for that firm. What you do is you come back here, you signal your interest to recruiters at companies yor at that company you've created an alert for and,, lo and behold, they know you're out there looking and interested in opportunities at their firm.
Now, one thing I want to point to, I don't think you should do-- job application settings. Choose what information LinkedIn saves when you submit a job. Oh, that's not the one I was thinking of. Never mind.
So, the two I'm pointing out today is let recruiters know you're open to new opportunities and signal your interest to recruiters at companies you've created job alerts for so you may apply for a job, you may then create an alert, you may then toggle this and it will start doing a great job of notifying people.
So, I hope you find this helpful. I hope you give it a great review and I hope you follow JobSearchTV. Now the way to do it on YouTube is there's a little icon in the lower right hand corner that says The Big Game Hunter on it. If you're wondering what it says click on that you'll get notices whenever I do a new video. Once we're connected on LinkedIn, if you're interested in my coaching you by the way to connect with me on LinkedIn, go to LinkedIn.com/in/TheBigGameHunter. Mention that you saw the video I just like knowing I'm helping some folks. Once we're connected messaged me that you're interested in coaching. We'll set up a time for free discovery call.
Hope you have a great day. Take care
