I thought I would do a video today, pointing out that with LinkedIn . . . LinkedIn has always been a clumsy platform. But they're doing a lot now to change how you communicate on the platform. I didn't want to record this on my phone. So just trust me when I tell you need to have the LinkedIn app now on your phone. You've got one of those right? The LinkedIn app.
When you get a message from someone through LinkedIn, there's now a feature on the bottom of the of the message where you'll see a little microphone. I know you know what a microphone icon looks like, right?
And, thus, there's now speech. You can now reply back and speak your message back to them. For those of you who hate the recruiters, all those recruiters who are sending you inMails, I don't recommend this, but you can feel better by sending them a message that suggests where they can go off to and what they can do when they go off, if you get my meaning.
So,, the mike feature makes it a lot easier to respond to everyone and everything. After all, if you're on the go, if you're in the restroom, sometimes, you can be in a situation where you can respond back and, more importantly, that you can see opportunities that are being presented to you. You can see where you can be of service to other people instead of just hitting the delete key because, the fact of the matter is, as a platform, LinkedIn is tremendous for you to build professional relationships and, in doing that, you want to be building those relationships, not just when you're looking for work but when you're not looking for work. That's when you build the relationships where you can then ask for help when you need it.
So, again, one of the easiest ways now message just send them a message. I did it a moment ago with someone who canceled an appointment with me. Why would you cancel the appointment on Monday morning?
Anyway, joking aside, I understand why. Doctors' appointment. Okay, so the long and the short of it is there's no reason not to respond to anyone now, even if you're telling them to go away and never contact you again. Even if you want to block them. You can tell them, "Sorry. Not interested. Good luck to you with the search." Or, "I don't really know anyone but let's stay in touch. Send me a connection request. Let's try and figure out a time to speak."
It becomes a nice easy way instead of sitting there typing messages to do in a few seconds, what might take more time
