This is a video about not being an ask-hole. What is in ask-hole? Real simple. It happened me last week.

Are you someone who asks people for advice and doesn't follow-up on it? You go on informational interviews. You take up 30 minutes of someone's time and you do nothing with it? Do you ask a friend for their opinion, and then promptly ignore it because you know better?

Well, that's the definition of an askhole. Why did you ask for people's advice? Why did you take up time on their calendar if you weren’t going to follow-up on it?

Very simply, if you're going to take the time to ask people to clear out time on their calendar or to answer your questions about something, you're obligated to follow up on it in AND you are obligated to drop them a note to thank them for making time and to say what happened when you acted on their advice. In job hunting, that's the big mistake people make with informational interviews. They take up someone's time, they do nothing with it, they show no appreciation or consideration of the other individual and why?

So, don't be an askhole. Just, very simply, apply the advice that you asked for, get back to people. You may be pleasantly surprised. After all, you don't know everything. That's why you went on this informational interview, right?
